In a spirited display of optimism, BJP’s Asansol South nominee Agnimitra Paul voted on Thursday and proclaimed the end of TMC’s reign in West Bengal. The high-profile candidate, known for her transition from fashion to politics, stepped out under heavy security to exercise her franchise.

“Our victory is assured,” Paul told the media outside the polling booth. “Bengal’s voters have rejected TMC. This entire constituency is my family, and the wave of change will sweep the state.”

Reflecting on voter roll cleanups post-SIR, she pointed out deletions in her area. “People are done with Mamata Banerjee’s rule—no one wants it back.”

Paul didn’t mince words on election fears: bombs, blackouts, and an influx of criminals, including Nadeem from Kharagpur. “TMC thrives on crime. The EC has to act for transparent voting.”

Recalling a sabotage attempt, she described fake surveys planted in local papers, meant for railway station handouts. “We nabbed them. This dirty trick is TMC’s signature style.”

Turning to national issues, Paul linked women’s anger over the stalled reservation bill to ballot retribution. “Women suffered without it—they’ll vote accordingly.”

With tensions running high, Paul’s forthright comments signal BJP’s momentum. As results loom, her words capture the fierce contest gripping Bengal, where anti-incumbency meets fierce loyalty.
