In a blistering critique that has rocked Patna’s political corridors, Tejashwi Yadav, RJD’s national executive president, declared Bihar’s government treasury bankrupt from unchecked corruption. ‘Corruption has scaled such heights in NDA Bihar that crooks reign as kings,’ he quipped in a Wednesday statement.
Yadav painted a grim picture of fiscal paralysis, noting the Nitish Kumar-led administration’s repeated orders to curb spending – the second in quick succession. He accused a cabal of ‘fearful, corrupt retired officers and agencies’ of colluding with a ‘comatose’ CM to distribute Rs 41,000 crore just before elections, all to safeguard the chair.
The fallout is devastating: months-long delays in social pensions for seniors, student credit cards, scholarships, salaries, and pensions. ‘They’re borrowing at interest rates, paying Rs 100+ crore daily just on debt servicing,’ Yadav revealed. The state’s debt now exceeds Rs 4 lakh crore, crippling any development agenda.
‘No vision, no roadmap – Bihar is at a standstill,’ thundered the young leader. CAG audits confirm the rot: Rs 92,132 crore spent without proof of utilization. This financial black hole has stalled projects province-wide, from rural roads to urban infrastructure.
As public anger simmers over unpaid dues, Yadav’s offensive underscores RJD’s strategy to portray NDA as a ‘corrupt, visionless’ regime. With elections looming, his call for transparency resonates, potentially shifting voter winds against the incumbents.
