In a stirring address at Bihar Agricultural University’s ninth convocation in Sabour, Bhagalpur, Governor Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd Lt Gen) asserted that only through agriculture can India achieve its Viksit Bharat vision by 2047. He positioned agri-students and researchers as vital sentinels of food security, essential for national progress.

Adopting ‘Work is Worship’ as the ideal ethos, the Governor inspired 443 graduating students—spanning BSc, MSc, PhD in agriculture and allied fields—to pledge their services to the nation. The ceremony distributed degrees in specialized programs like Horticulture, Agribusiness MBA, and Agricultural Engineering, with 13 PhDs and six gold medals awarded.

The Governor commended BAU’s state-of-the-art facilities and the flawless execution of the event, reminiscent of military precision. He inaugurated a new swimming pool and planted a Rudraksha tree to promote environmental stewardship.

Highlighting Bihar’s makhana prowess, he endorsed the creation of a dedicated Centre of Excellence at BAU, promising state support to boost research, cultivation, and value-added processing. This initiative is poised to elevate Bihar’s position in the global makhana market.

Local MP Ajay Kumar Mandal called it a triumph of perseverance, while VC Dr. D.R. Singh showcased the university’s innovations including GI-tagged products, novel crops like blueberries, and the ‘One Scientist-One Product’ drive, all underpinned by a culture of joyful, dedicated work.
