Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Siliguri on April 12 during West Bengal’s election fervor became memorable not just for fiery speeches but for an outpouring of artistic tributes from locals. Dozens of handmade portraits and crafts were presented to the PM, who responded with characteristic warmth by directing his security team to gather them systematically.

A key instruction from Modi was for artists to add their details on the reverse side, hinting at forthcoming replies. True to his word, within less than two weeks, personalized appreciation letters reached four standout contributors: schoolboys Rahul Basak and Mayank Ghosh, along with artists Papiya Mandal and Trishagni Banerjee.

The letters arrived via official channels, starting with confirmatory phone calls to families. For 14-year-old Rahul from North Dhantri, the April 25 evening call led to a WhatsApp-delivered message of commendation, filling the household with jubilation. ‘PM Modi had promised a response, but this speed is beyond imagination,’ Rahul shared excitedly. His lifelong hobby of sketching now feels validated at the highest level.

Papiya Mandal, hailing from Purbaastali, rediscovered her artistic zeal after gifting a portrait at the rally. ‘This letter has boosted my self-belief like never before,’ she enthused, admitting a prior hiatus from painting. Sixth-grader Mayank from Siliguri recalled the PM’s delight with his sketch and the practical tip on contact info, culminating in his own cherished letter.

Murshidabad’s Trishagni Banerjee was equally elated. ‘I’m thankful beyond words for this personal touch from such a busy leader,’ she said about her painting tribute. These interactions reveal Modi’s knack for nurturing talent amid political hustle, turning a routine campaign stop into a launchpad for young dreams.

As polls intensify in Bengal, this episode reminds voters of leadership that values individual efforts. The artists’ stories are spreading virally, amplifying messages of encouragement and motivation across the state.
