The Uttarakhand government has drawn a hard line against rampant land fraud, ordering FIRs in 24 cases after a comprehensive review. Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey shared updates from the anti-fraud committee set up per Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s instructions, which examined 104 complaints.

Dhami’s April 6 directive was unambiguous: zero tolerance for deceit in property dealings. Investigators zeroed in on 24 instances warranting police action, involving fake sales sans ownership, bogus papers, excess land transactions, and khasra manipulations for false claims.

Progress is notable—44 cases settled, with courts clearing some and complainants dropping others upon resolution. This efficiency reflects proactive governance.

Enhancing accountability, resolved parties receive formal notices detailing timelines, proceedings, and verdicts. Pandey emphasized this as a cornerstone of transparent administration.

Shifting focus, Additional Secretary Banshidhar Tiwari confirmed post-Pauri review that hostels will dot every block, selected by student numbers, including girls-only options as pledged by the CM. Anti-encroachment efforts intensify, with ongoing demolitions and MDDA online listings of violations.

Led by Dhami, Uttarakhand’s crackdown on land irregularities promises fair play for residents and investor confidence. Such reforms are set to reshape the real estate landscape, ensuring ethical practices prevail.
