In a reassuring update, India’s central government dismissed shortage fears on Sunday, affirming that LPG supplies are fully operational nationwide. Saturday’s figures paint a steady picture: 47.7 lakh LPG cylinders booked, with 47 lakh successfully delivered to households.
The Petroleum Ministry highlighted 100% availability for domestic LPG, home PNG, and transport CNG, even as international tensions simmer. “No need for panic purchases of petrol, diesel, or LPG,” it stated, while vowing continuous measures to secure stocks.
Citizens were cautioned against unverified rumors, with a call to trust only official sources. Crackdowns on hoarding and illegal trading are in full swing, featuring more than 1,900 inspections across the country on Saturday.
Oil marketing firms have escalated checks, penalizing 349 distributors with fines and blacklisting 74 others up to yesterday. Since early April, over 10,100 camps promoted 5-kg affordable cylinders, driving sales of 1.75 lakh units. Auto LPG off-take reached 11,082 metric tons.
Adding to the positive momentum, the MT Sarv Shakti, laden with 46,313 MT of LPG, cleared the Hormuz Strait safely and is slated to arrive at Visakhapatnam by May 13. This vital consignment promises to enhance domestic reserves, ensuring long-term stability in fuel distribution.
