Congress Bought Zero Wheat in 55 Years: MP CM Mohan Yadav’s Bold Claim

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav unleashed a fierce critique of Congress at a rally in Indore’s Nanoad area on Sunday. Following the groundbreaking ceremony for the Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor Phase 1, he lambasted the opposition for failing farmers over 55 years of governance, claiming they never purchased even a fistful of grain.

Despite incessant pleas from the farming community, Congress regimes refused to establish fair wheat procurement systems, Yadav charged. In stark opposition, his government has boosted procurement volumes dramatically—from 75 lakh metric tons previously to 100 lakh this season—demonstrating unwavering dedication.

Recounting the past, Yadav noted wheat’s meager 80-100 rupees per quintal price in 1956, inching only to 400-500 rupees by early 2000s under prolonged Congress rule. Now, at 2,625 rupees per quintal, the shift reflects visionary leadership from predecessors like Uma Bharti and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, amplified by current policies.

Farmers cultivating urad and similar third crops can expect a 600-rupee bonus, a first-of-its-kind incentive absent in prior administrations. Reiterating the 2028 manifesto goal of 2,700 rupees per quintal, Yadav predicted achieving it ahead of schedule in the remaining three years of his term.

His vision extends to holistic agricultural growth, promoting dairy and livestock as supplementary income streams. Addressing a key pain point, Yadav announced reliable daytime power for irrigation after monsoons, sparing farmers from perilous night-time labors in freezing temperatures and slippery fields.

This comprehensive strategy—high MSP, bonuses, infrastructure, and power reforms—heralds a new era of prosperity for Madhya Pradesh’s farmers, decisively outpacing the inertia of bygone Congress eras.
