Gandhinagar’s global outreach took center stage in Surat as Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met Rwanda’s envoy to India, Jacqueline Mukangira, on the sidelines of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for South Gujarat. The high-level talks aimed at supercharging bilateral economic cooperation between Gujarat and the African nation.

Mukangira praised the VGRC’s achievements and positioned Rwanda as India’s key ally. Trade between Gujarat and Rwanda is on an upward trajectory, with Rwanda sourcing textiles, spices, and sugar from Indian suppliers. Gujarati-led firms dominate the Indian business landscape in Rwanda, paving the way for robust people-to-people links and cultural synergy.

CM Patel responded enthusiastically, outlining a roadmap for enhanced collaboration. A high-profile Gujarat team will soon travel to Rwanda to scout investment prospects and expand joint ventures. Thanking Rwanda for its VGRC involvement, Patel issued an official invite to the 2027 Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.

Senior bureaucrats such as Chief Secretary M.K. Das, Industries Principal Secretary Mamta Verma, and CM’s Principal Secretary Sanjeev Kumar were present, signaling the state’s seriousness about this alliance.

Posting on X, Patel described the productive dialogue, emphasizing Rwanda’s strategic imports and the cultural bridges built by Gujarati entrepreneurs. He called for deeper engagement through delegation exchanges and summit participation.

This accord marks a milestone in Gujarat’s international strategy, blending economic ambition with cultural diplomacy. Expect more cross-continental deals as both sides capitalize on shared strengths in trade, industry, and innovation.
