President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has called for intensified diplomatic efforts to sustain the ceasefires currently in place across Iran and Lebanon. Speaking on the Pakistan-mediated truce between the US and Iran, she emphasized that a durable peace is essential to prevent broader conflict. Von der Leyen stressed that free transit through the Strait of Hormuz and constraints on Iran’s nuclear capabilities are vital for global and European economic stability.

In New York, Iran’s UN representative Amir Saeid Iravani labeled Israel a ‘constant threat’ to stability, calling for a unified international response to Israeli military actions in Lebanon. He demanded the UN Security Council enforce the ceasefire and protect civilian infrastructure. In Lebanon, President Joseph Aoun reported the deaths of three rescue workers in an Israeli raid, condemning the act as a blatant breach of international humanitarian laws protecting medics and civil defense units.
