UP Women Safety Crisis: Akhilesh Accuses BJP of Protecting Rapists

In a fiery press conference in Lucknow’s Sushant Golf City, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav tore into the Yogi Adityanath government, painting a grim picture of deteriorating women’s safety in Uttar Pradesh. Crimes against daughters are skyrocketing, he charged, but instead of swift justice, the administration is offering safe havens to the guilty.

Yadav highlighted brutal cases in Ghazipur, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, and Fatehpur, where families of assaulted girls wait endlessly for redress. SP leaders stepped in Ghazipur, meeting the bereaved and providing monetary support, while demanding the withdrawal of fabricated FIRs against party workers.

The SP supremo alleged a two-tier justice system: opposition faces trumped-up charges, while BJP-linked criminals walk free. The Fatehpur accused, a party office-bearer, enjoys patronage, much like those stoking tensions in Ghazipur. Yadav ridiculed BJP’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy as a sham, with victims pressured into silence and even spiritual leaders like Shankaracharya targeted with false cases.

‘What kind of Sanatan Dharma insults gurus?’ he asked pointedly. On the electoral front, he accused BJP of manipulating West Bengal votes using UP machinery and central paramilitary, echoing Rampur tactics. An IPS officer implicated in irregularities escapes punishment, underscoring systemic bias.

As these revelations unfold, Akhilesh Yadav’s outspoken critique amplifies calls for reform, challenging the government to prove its commitment to women’s security and fair play in democracy.
