Defence Minister Rajnath Singh seized the SCO defence ministers’ conclave in Bishkek to forge stronger defence alliances with Kyrgyzstan and Belarus, conducting key bilateral meetings that promise enhanced military synergy. The gatherings, occurring on Tuesday, highlighted India’s pivotal role in regional security architecture.
During his dialogue with Kyrgyzstan’s defence chief, Major General Mukambetov Ruslan Mustafayevich, Singh stressed the enduring strategic partnership grounded in common democratic ideals, developmental goals, cultural affinities, and historical legacies. He described the exchange as ‘extremely useful,’ reaffirming India’s resolve to nurture these bonds.
Discussions spanned critical sectors like joint military drills, training exchanges, and advancements in defence tech. Defence cooperation stands out as a cornerstone, with both nations eager to amplify collaboration amid global uncertainties.
In parallel, Singh’s parley with Belarus’s Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin opened doors to fresh opportunities in defence realms. The minister conveyed satisfaction over the talks, which probed military hardware, technological exchanges, training enhancements, and broader defence partnerships.
Beyond these, Singh’s earlier meets with Russia’s Andrei Belousov and China’s Admiral Dong Jun added momentum. The Russia dialogue, praised as ‘outstanding,’ tackled international security landscapes, tech transfers, and collaborative ventures. With China, the focus remained on regional stability and cooperative frameworks.
These multifaceted interactions at the SCO platform exemplify India’s diplomatic vigour, positioning it as a reliable partner in defence and strategy. As security paradigms shift worldwide, such engagements lay the groundwork for resilient alliances, ensuring mutual benefits and regional peace.
