Hyderabad’s political circles are abuzz as former BRS MP and MLC K. Kalvakuntla Kavitha launched Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS) on Saturday, echoing the legacy of her father KCR’s original party before its national pivot to BRS. This development underscores deepening family and party tensions in Telangana’s former ruling dynasty.

Seven months post her exit from BRS due to disagreements with brother KTR, Kavitha’s new platform signals a fresh chapter. The day began solemnly with prayers at home, transitioning to paying respects at the Telangana Shaheed Smarak. The highlight was a grand gathering in Medchal’s Munirabad, alive with folk music and cultural dances.

A video presentation captured Kavitha’s journey in the Telangana movement, inspiring the crowd that included ST groups, Lambadas, and Muslim women. As a prominent female voice, she seeks to challenge the patriarchal norms of regional politics.

Kavitha’s March announcement laid bare her agenda: addressing the ‘unfinished dreams’ of Telangana residents. Despite 12 years since statehood, essentials like water security, financial autonomy, and employment opportunities—pillars of the agitation—elude the people. Successive governments have let down key sectors, from agriculture to industry and vulnerable communities.

Her party’s mantra revolves around inclusive development, self-sufficiency, and hyper-local problem-solving. By focusing on ignored local issues, Telangana Rashtra Sena aims to bridge the gap between rulers and the ruled, promising a governance model rooted in empathy and action.
