Former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan, now a vocal TMC parliamentarian, stole the spotlight at a grand roadshow in West Bengal’s Mangalkote supporting candidate Apurba Chaudhary. Addressing reporters, he dissected the first phase polling dynamics, where nearly 92% turnout painted a rosy picture for democratic engagement.

Pathan described the voter surge as evidence of an awakened electorate, actively shaping Bengal’s future. Yet, he didn’t shy away from critiquing isolated violent incidents, labeling them regrettable and pressing authorities for strict enforcement and thorough investigations.

Zooming into Baharampur and Murshidabad, Pathan’s optimism soared. He projected TMC dominating 20 to 22 of the 22 seats, including a clean sweep in Baharampur’s seven assembly segments. Broadening the lens to the entire state, he envisioned TMC crossing the 110-seat mark comfortably.

Praising Mamata Banerjee’s governance, Pathan highlighted transformative schemes that have won hearts. “Development under Didi is the real campaigner,” he quipped, linking public affection to tangible progress.

As phase two looms on April 29 with 142 seats in play and counting on May 4, Pathan’s predictions signal TMC’s robust ground game. His crossover appeal from sports to politics amplifies the party’s narrative of continuity and growth in a fiercely contested poll arena.
