Churu witnessed a momentous occasion as Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the statue of Lieutenant General Sagat Singh, a towering figure in Indian military history. Attended by top leaders like Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Minister Bhagirath Choudhary, the ceremony was a poignant reminder of Singh’s contributions to the nation.

Birla recounted Singh’s journey through the annals of valor, from his exploits in the Second World War to his command in the Goa liberation operation. His tactical genius shone brightest during the tense Nathu La standoff, where bold maneuvers safeguarded India’s borders against Chinese aggression.

The 1971 war stood out in Birla’s narration, with Singh’s forces racing to Dhaka, forcing the surrender of over 90,000 Pakistani troops and birthing a new nation. These achievements, Birla noted, mark Singh as an exemplar of leadership and patriotism.

Rajasthan, Birla affirmed, has long been a cradle of warriors, with its people embodying selfless service to the motherland. The statue, he said, will serve as an eternal inspiration, motivating future generations to emulate Singh’s spirit of sacrifice and strategic foresight.

Birla concluded by calling upon the youth to channel this heroic legacy into nation-building efforts, ensuring that Sagat Singh’s indomitable resolve continues to guide India forward.
