In a heartfelt gesture blending diplomacy and environmental stewardship, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol planted a tree under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign during high-level talks in New Delhi. The event at Hyderabad House symbolized respect for maternal bonds while highlighting Indo-Korean camaraderie.

As shared by MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on X, the duo planted an Ashok sapling, which will take root in Ayodhya’s Queen Heo Hwang-ok Memorial Park—a site celebrating ancient ties between India and Korea. This preceded a productive day where President Yoon, with First Lady Kim, visited Raj Ghat to pay tribute to Gandhi.

The summit yielded groundbreaking outcomes, with pacts reinforcing economic partnerships in emerging fields like AI, semiconductors, shipbuilding, critical minerals, and resilient supply chains. Consensus emerged on Indo-Pacific stability and other regional concerns. Industry roundtables, including the bustling India-Korea Business Forum, emphasized private sector synergies.

Parallel initiatives such as Delhi’s Financial Cooperation Forum and Bengaluru’s Space Day enriched the itinerary. Key deliverables included deals in trade, maritime affairs, environment, S&T, education, and culture, alongside four joint declarations. The flagship ‘India-ROK Joint Strategic Vision’ charts a comprehensive path forward.

Special attention went to maritime domains, establishing novel structures for shipbuilding and logistics, plus joint approaches to climate action and energy resilience. President Yoon stated, ‘Amid global uncertainties, our nations are primed for expansive collaboration in growth and innovation. We’re aligning on shipbuilding, AI, finance, defense, and deeper cultural exchanges.’

This landmark visit fortifies strategic alliances, paving the way for innovative ventures and mutual advancement in a dynamic world order.
