Users of the popular BHIM UPI app have a new tool at their fingertips: direct access to CIBIL credit scores. NPCI’s BHIM Services has inked a deal with TransUnion CIBIL, enabling seamless credit report viewing within the app itself.
No more jumping between apps for credit checks. With user consent, BHIM version 4.0.19 or higher pulls your CIBIL score and detailed report, helping you stay on top of your financial standing effortlessly.
This move aligns with NPCI’s vision to transform BHIM into a comprehensive financial hub. Beyond peer-to-peer transfers and bill payments, it now promotes proactive credit management, crucial in India’s burgeoning digital economy.
Industry leaders are optimistic. TransUnion CIBIL’s Bhavesh Jain noted, ‘This partnership marks a pivotal advancement as India embraces structured credit systems, boosting consumer empowerment.’
Echoing this, NPCI BHIM’s Lalita Natarajan said the integration upholds the app’s ethos of user-friendly simplicity while extending control over credit matters.
BHIM continues to evolve. Just last month, it rolled out fingerprint and face authentication for transactions up to Rs 5,000. Available in 15+ languages, the app caters to diverse users with tools for expense tracking and family sharing.
UPI’s milestone 10-year run has seen it dominate 49% of worldwide real-time payments, a testament to India’s fintech prowess. This credit score feature further solidifies BHIM’s role in financial inclusion.
