Digital payments giant NPCI has leveled up the BHIM app with a game-changing CIBIL integration. Through a new agreement with TransUnion CIBIL, BHIM users can now instantly check their credit scores and reports directly in-app.
Revealed on Monday, this update is live on BHIM version 4.0.19 or higher. No more juggling multiple apps—everything happens within BHIM’s secure environment.
Privacy is paramount: credit info is shared only with user consent, under a robust permission model.
The addition underscores NPCI’s vision to evolve BHIM from a payment app into a full-fledged financial dashboard. It empowers users with real-time insights into their credit health, crucial for loans and beyond.
‘India’s credit landscape is maturing rapidly,’ said Bhavesh Jain, TransUnion CIBIL’s MD and CEO. ‘This collaboration drives consumer awareness at scale.’
Echoing this, Lalita Natarajan of NPCI BHIM Services noted how it reinforces simplicity and control in credit monitoring.
Building on recent upgrades, BHIM introduced biometric UPI payments in March, allowing fingerprint or face ID for transactions up to Rs 5,000.
India’s homegrown UPI app, BHIM caters to diverse users in 15+ languages with tools for bill splitting, family sharing, and expense tracking.
As UPI marks a decade, its 49% share in global real-time payments highlights BHIM’s pivotal role in financial inclusion.
