Security forces struck a decisive blow to militant groups in Manipur with back-to-back operations that yielded a treasure trove of arms and high-value arrests. The first mission, launched by Assam Rifles in Kamjong district based on precise intel, targeted potential hideouts near the Myanmar frontier on April 11-12, 2026.

Using state-of-the-art detection tools and expert sniffer dogs, the jawans zeroed in on a concealed bunker buried underground. The haul included sophisticated weaponry, live rounds, bombs, and tactical gear— a clear sign of planned subversive activities. The entire consignment was secured and forwarded for expert examination.

Building momentum, a multi-agency blitz from April 16-19 covered Thoubal, Tengnoupal, and Kakching districts, culminating in the capture of three militants from outlawed factions PREPAK (Pro) and KYKL (Sorepa). These operatives, fresh from Myanmar training camps, were carrying mobiles and hard currency, fueling suspicions of international linkages.

Handed over to law enforcement with their gadgets, the trio now faces intense grilling to unravel larger conspiracies. In Mizoram, Assam Rifles and customs officials jointly busted a cigarette smuggling ring in Jembabawk, confiscating 99 cases worth Rs 2.37 crore and nabbing one perpetrator.

This series of triumphs highlights the synergy between paramilitary units, local police, and other agencies in curbing insurgency and illicit trade. With the northeast remaining a hotspot for such threats, these actions serve as a strong deterrent, promising safer borders and communities ahead.
