In a fiery address from Jaipur, Rajasthan BJP chief Madan Rathore warned that the opposition’s sabotage of the Women’s Reservation Bill has ignited unprecedented fury among women. Speaking to media on April 18, he urged women not to allow these parties any political platform. ‘Treat them with the contempt they deserve,’ he declared.
Rathore painted a vivid picture of women’s empowerment under Modi: ‘Today, our daughters are astronauts, soldiers – powerhouses in every field. So why deny them seats in Parliament?’ He expressed Modi’s personal anguish over Congress’s role in ‘stealing women’s rights.’ Turning to Mamata Banerjee, Rathore remarked, ‘As a female leader, her opposition to the bill is a betrayal of womanhood – a shameful chapter in history.’
Joining the chorus, BJP Mahila Morcha’s Rakhi Rathore ripped into the INDIA bloc’s jubilation after the bill fell. ‘They partied like it was Diwali! Congress has always suppressed women, but Priyanka Gandhi and Dimple Yadav’s presence was the ultimate disappointment. From their privileged backgrounds, they ignored the struggles of common women.’
Rakhi lamented missed opportunities: ‘They had everything handed to them politically, yet failed to support grassroots women at this pivotal moment.’ Rallying supporters, she revealed plans for a grand demonstration in Jaipur on April 20. ‘The opposition is blatantly anti-women. Come election time, women voters will deliver the ultimate verdict.’
As tensions rise, this rhetoric could reshape voter dynamics in Rajasthan, with BJP leveraging women’s issues to consolidate its base and corner rivals on progressive credentials.
