India’s Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan wrapped up his impactful two-day visit to Sri Lanka with temple prayers and a slew of development pacts. At Colombo’s Kathiresan and Gangaramaya temples, he participated in sacred rituals amid vibrant cultural welcomes, symbolizing enduring spiritual affinities.

The centerpiece was the exchange of pivotal MoUs reshaping bilateral cooperation. A landmark agreement targets a new multi-story medical facility in Mullaitivu, while six others focus on Eastern Province initiatives: batik skills training for women, neonatal care at Dehiattakandiya, specialized hospital units in Muthur, farmer clusters, Ayurveda village upliftment, and dispensary expansions.

Announcements poured in, expanding OCI benefits to sixth-generation Indian descendants and streamlining applications for Indian-origin Tamils. The Indian Housing Project’s third phase delivered 4,000 homes to estate workers. Further, northern rail services restart, three Bailey bridges rise in key provinces, CEWET scholarships grow, and Sri Lanka joins the Big Cat Alliance led by India.

This journey not only reinforced strategic partnerships but also highlighted India’s unwavering support for Sri Lanka’s reconstruction and growth. As both nations navigate regional challenges, these pacts lay a robust foundation for mutual prosperity and security.
