Vanuatu’s capital Port Vila witnessed high-level diplomatic engagement as India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margarita, met with Prime Minister Jotham Napat on Thursday. The discussions revolved around fortifying cooperation in critical domains to drive mutual advancement.

Both sides reiterated their dedication to fostering progress and welfare for their populations, setting a positive tone for future partnerships. Margherita later posted on X, conveying his privilege in the interaction and praising the enthusiastic exchange on enhancing India-Vanuatu synergy.

Prior to this, the MoS convened with Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Xavier Emmanuel Harry, delving into opportunities to deepen collaboration across various fields. He highlighted the strong foundation of trust and shared principles underpinning their relationship.

Key focus areas included bolstering health initiatives, capacity enhancement programs, and building infrastructure resilient to climate challenges. Conversations also touched on joint efforts in international platforms, with India positioned as a reliable ally in Vanuatu’s growth story.

Margherita’s itinerary included a visit to the India-backed Centre of Excellence in IT on Wednesday, designed to equip young Vanuatuans with cutting-edge digital competencies. He described the center as a pivotal symbol of their deepening bilateral bonds.

Arriving in Port Vila on Wednesday for his inaugural official trip, the minister’s visit is poised to elevate diplomatic and developmental ties, reinforcing India’s proactive engagement in the Pacific.
