In a move to deepen collaboration on pressing environmental issues, India’s Secretary (West) CB George engaged in detailed talks with Liu Zhenmin, China’s Special Representative for Climate Change. The dialogue in New Delhi centered on aligning strategies for the global climate agenda, reflecting India’s steadfast involvement in worldwide sustainability efforts.

As per an official statement shared by spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on X, the conversation exchanged views on critical climate matters. India remains deeply invested in the UNFCCC framework and Paris Accord commitments, actively contributing to collective action against climate change.

Concurrently, at the SCO Defence Ministers’ conclave in Bishkek, Rajnath Singh and Admiral Dong Jun deliberated on Asia’s security landscape. Their discussions emphasized bilateral communication, border management, and tension mitigation mechanisms. The ministers underscored the need for robust channels to foster trust and prevent escalations.

The SCO meeting addresses key concerns like anti-terrorism cooperation and defence partnerships. Singh’s itinerary includes sideline bilaterals to enhance multilateral ties.

These interactions occur as India and China navigate post-2020 border tensions, with ongoing disengagement processes and diplomatic initiatives aiming to rebuild confidence and promote regional peace.
