In a bold move to safeguard digital spaces, Telangana’s Cyber Security Bureau has unleashed Operation Crackdown 2.0, a statewide dragnet on convicted cyber crooks. The goal? Keep tabs on them and stop any comeback tours into crime.
Launched Saturday with police backing, the op scrutinizes 614 locals out of 3,567 arrested in 2024-25 for cyber felonies, especially big-money frauds. Director Shikha Goyal shared updates: 335 verified, tied to 480 state and 1,233 national cases.
Successes include tracking 218 suspects—many shifted homes but all documented. Three dead, 115 fugitives, and one key player, Prasad Kumar (30), fleeing in Nepal over child exploitation charges. Hundreds of teams fanned out, probing residences, employment, and daily moves.
This pioneering surveillance effort post-arrest builds comprehensive dossiers, flagging risks for intensified policing. Data now flows to precincts, boosting synergy against cyber threats.
Goyal hailed it as a first-of-its-kind intel share, fortifying local responses. With cybercrime surging, this operation underscores Telangana’s commitment to relentless pursuit, turning one-time arrests into lifelong vigilance.
