  • Weather Update: Rainy Morning In Delhi-NCR, IMD Predicts Rainfall In Several States |

    New Delhi:  The National Capital Region (NCR), including Delhi, experienced a rainy start to Saturday. Light rainfall was observed in Delhi and its neighboring areas during the early hours of Saturday morning. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted additional downpour over the next two days.
    The Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for the Western Himalayan Region, predicting fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning until March 3, 2024.

    Delhi Weather Update

    According to IMD’s weather bulletin, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds ranging from 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph, is expected over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi.

    Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is likely over Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and north Madhya Pradesh on March 2 and 3, stated the met department.

    IMD’s Rain Alert For Bihar Jharkhand

    Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over several regions, including Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha today.

    According to IMD, rainfall is also expected over Chhattisgarh during March 2nd to 5th; Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during March 2nd to 4th; Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha on March 3rd & 4th, 2024. Additionally, isolated hailstorms are expected over specific areas during this period.

    IMD Predicts Heavy Snowfall In Himachal, Jammu And Kashmir

    In specific regions, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall or snowfall is anticipated over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on March 1st and 2nd. Punjab is likely to experience heavy rainfall on March 2nd, 2024.

    Hailstrom Alert For Uttar Pradesh Rajasthan, Punjab And Other States

    On March 2nd, hailstorms are expected over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, north Madhya Pradesh, and East Rajasthan, while on March 2nd, it’s likely over East Uttar Pradesh.

    Heavy Rainfall To Lash Arunachal, Sikkim, Predicts IMD

    A cyclonic circulation over Northeast Assam, along with the eastward movement of the current Western Disturbance, will bring isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall/snowfall over Arunachal Pradesh for the next 7 days. Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh on March 4th and over Sikkim on March 3rd, 2024, stated IMD.

    Furthermore, isolated light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is anticipated over Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during March 3rd-6th, 2024.

    New Delhi: Six people, including two children and four members of a family, lost their lives after allegedly inhaling poisonous gases from coal braziers in their rooms in two different incidents in Delhi on Sunday, news agency PTI reported. The incidents occurred as the city witnessed its coldest day of the winter, with the minimum temperature dipping to 3.5 degrees Celsius. The first incident took place in Alipur area in outer north Delhi, where a family of four was found dead in their room. The victims were identified as Rakesh (40), a water tanker driver, his wife Lalita (38), and their sons Piyush (8) and Sunny (7).

    The police said that they received a PCR call around 7 am, informing them about an unconscious person at Khera Kalan village in Delhi. When the police reached the spot, they found that the door of the room was locked from inside. They broke the glass window and opened the door, only to find four people lying unconscious inside. They were taken to the hospital, where they were declared dead.

    The police said that a coal brazier (angithi) was found in the room and it appeared that the family died due to suffocation. The police have initiated further investigation and proceedings under section 174 of the CrPC.

    The second incident happened in Inderpuri area of west Delhi, where two men from Nepal were found dead in their rented room. The deceased were Ram Bahadur (57), a driver, and Abhishek (22), a domestic help.

    The police said that they received a call at 8.30 am, saying that two people were not opening their door. The police found that the door was locked from inside and they forced it open. They found two men unconscious in the room and rushed them to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

    The police said that a coal brazier with burnt residue was found in the room, which had only one window that was closed. There were no signs of injury on the bodies. The police have started further investigation and proceedings under section 174 CrPC.

  • Weather Update: IMD Predicts Rainfall In Seven States Amid Severe Cold Day Conditions |

    New Delhi: The Northern region is grappling with harsh cold conditions, with no relief in sight as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts severe cold day conditions for the upcoming two days.

    As per the IMD forecast, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan are likely to experience severe cold day conditions over the next two days, coupled with the presence of very dense fog. The IMD predicts that from January 7 to 8, cold day to severe cold day conditions are highly likely to persist in certain areas across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan.

    Along with the bitter cold, Northwest and Central India is likely to witness a fresh rain spell during the next 2-3 days. According to IMD rainfall with thunderstorm/hailstorm is likely over Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh during Jan 8 – Jan 10.

    The IMD has forecast light rainfall over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh on January 8 and 9. Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and northern parts of Maharashtra are also likely to witness fresh rain spells during the next 2 days.

    The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Coastal Tamil Nadu and Kerala are likely to witness isolated heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning during the next 3-5 days. According to IMD’s weather bulletin, isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over north coastal Tamil Nadu on January 7.
