  • Rinku Singh Is Heartbroken, Reveals Father Following His T20 World Cup 2024 Snub From Team India | cricket news

Rinku Singh’s father reacted to his son not making it in the top 15 for Team India’s T20 World Cup squad. He mentioned that the family had already ordered sweets and crackers thinking Rinku will make it to the team. BCCI named a 15-member squad on Tuesday (April 30). Unfortunately for the KKR star, he could only get his name in the reserve sheet for the 2024 World Cup.

“There were a lot of hopes, but there were disappointments as well. We had got sweets and firecrackers with the hope that he will feature in the playing XI. Still, we are very happy,” Rinku’s father told Bharat 24. Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh feels that Rinku Singh should have been included in India’s 15-player squad for the T20 World Cup which will kick off in June. On Tuesday, India announced their squad for the marquee event which will be held in the USA and the West Indies.

Rinku missed out on the squad and was included as a reserve player alongside Shubman Gill, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan. Harbhajan stated that Rinku should have been included in the squad as he possesses the ability to change the complexion of the game on his own.

“I feel Rinku Singh should have been included in the team, a player who has the potential to change the game on his own and has not been included in the team is Rinku,” Harbhajan said on his YouTube channel. (IPL 2024: Rinku Singh Explains ‘Bhul Gaya Jo Mahi Bhai Ne Bola Tha’ Viral Statement)

Last season, Rinku announced himself to the world in the previous IPL season with his influential performance as a finisher for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He struck 474 runs in 14 matches at an impressive strike rate of 149.53 and at a batting average of 59.25.

However, this season, he has kept his strike rate high but has struggled to muster up runs. In nine matches, the left-handed batsman has scored 123 runs at an average of 20.50.

In India’s hunt for World Cup glory, Rohit Sharma will lead India in the showpiece tournament, while Hardik Pandya will be his deputy. India have added two wicket-keepers, including Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson, to their squad. Star batsman Virat Kohli, who has been slamming runs in the ongoing IPL 2024 has also been added into the squad.

Pant is set to make a comeback to team India, around 16 months after meeting with a car crash on the Delhi-Dehradun highway in Uttarakhand in 2022. India have opted for four spinners Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal to their squad.

India will head into the tournament with the powerful pace attack led by Jasprit Bumrah with Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj adding more boost.

India will begin their World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 05, 2024, at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, followed by the marquee clash against Pakistan on June 09, 2024 at the same venue.

India will then play USA and Canada on June 12 and 15 respectively. India are placed in Group A of the tournament alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and co-hosts USA.

Rinku Singh has been a phenomenal player for India in the T20Is. He could have been a great addition to the playing 11 as a finisher. But Agarkar and Co have another idea.

  • Why Rinku Singh Was Not Picked In Team India’s Squad For T20 World Cup 2024? , cricket news

The announcement of India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 sent shockwaves through the cricketing fraternity, as one of the nation’s brightest rising stars found himself cast aside. Rinku Singh, the prodigious left-handed batsman whose exploits in the IPL 2023 etched his name into folklore, was the unfortunate casualty of cricket’s new ‘Impact Player’ rule. The Agony of Omission With an astonishing average of 89 and a blistering strike rate of 176 in 15 T20I appearances for India, Rinku’s numbers screamed for inclusion. His ability to single-handedly turn matches on their head with his power-hitting heroics had fans dreaming of World Cup glory. Yet, when the squad was unveiled, the 26-year-old’s name was conspicuously absent from the main 15, only finding a place among the traveling reserves.

    The ‘Impact Player’ Conundrum

The root cause of Rinku’s omission can be traced back to the revolutionary ‘Impact Player’ rule introduced in the IPL 2023. This regulation allows teams to effectively field 12 players, substituting a member of the playing XI with someone from the dugout at any point during. the innings. While innovative, it proved to be Rinku’s undoing.

For Kolkata Knight Riders, Rinku was primarily deployed as a finisher, often entering the fray in the final few overs. With the top order consuming a lion’s share of deliveries, he faced a mere 82 balls across 8 innings before selection – a paltry average of just 10 balls per game. In stark contrast, Shivam Dube, who pipped Rinku to the squad, benefited from Chennai Super Kings’ strategic use of the ‘Impact Player’ rule. Dube faced 203 balls in 9 games, amassing a staggering 26 sixes and 24 fours.

    The Dilemma of the Selectors

According to sources within the BCCI, the selection panel found themselves in a quandary. With Hardik Pandya an automatic pick as India’s premier seam-bowling all-rounder, they could only accommodate one additional batting all-rounder in the 15. Dube’s superior game time and impressive returns made him the preferred choice over Rinku.

“Rinku paid the price for the Impact Player Rule. He is plain and simple unlucky,” a BCCI source revealed. The selectors conceded that while Rinku’s numbers were exceptional, his lack of opportunities higher up the order ultimately cost him dear.

    A Bitter Pill to Swallow

For Rinku, the omission is undoubtedly a bitter pill to swallow. Having fought tooth and nail to cement his place in the national side, the cruel twist of fate dealt by the ‘Impact Player’ rule has left him contemplating what could have been. His five consecutive sixes against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023, which sealed an improbable victory for KKR, will forever be etched in cricketing lore.

Yet, all is not lost for the Aligarh lad. Named as a traveling reserve, an injury or loss of form to any of the selected players could see him drafted into the main squad. And with the T20 World Cup scheduled for June 1st in the West Indies and USA, Rinku still has time on his side to force his way back into contention. The cruelties of professional sport often defy logic, and Rinku Singh finds himself its latest victim. But for a player of his immense talent and unwavering determination, this setback could prove to be merely a minor hurdle in what promises to be an illustrious career. The cricketing world eagerly awaits his comeback, for when Rinku Singh is at the crease, magic is never far away.

Rinku believes that Andre ‘The Muscle’ takes the title of hitting the longest six. “They both (Russell and Narine) have a lot of power. Russell, the Muscle, hits such big sixes. Even Sunny (Sunil Narine) hits big sixes. You look at their arms and mine. I do not have that much power, I just time the ball.”

His best score is 69*. He has also scored 55 runs in two ODIs for India. With strong first-class numbers for UP, 3,173 runs in 47 matches at an average of 54.70, with seven tons and 20 fifties, Rinku could be India’s next big all-format star after Virat and Rohit Sharma, alongside the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill.
