He steered the team to a 6-wicket win with seven balls to spare. Singh’s explosive batting display, featuring impressive shots all around the field, served as a powerful statement ahead of the Asia Cup.
The match, part of the UP T20 League, saw the Gorakhpur Lions bat first, scoring 167 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs. In response, the Meerut Mavericks faced early setbacks, losing four wickets with only 38 runs on the board. However, Rinku Singh, in partnership with Sahib Yuvraj, forged an unbeaten 130-run stand in just 65 balls, snatching victory from Gorakhpur. Singh’s innings included 7 fours and 8 sixes, finishing with an unbeaten 108 runs off 48 balls.
Sahib Yuvraj contributed 22 runs off 22 balls. The partnership helped Meerut achieve the winning target of 168 runs in 18.5 overs, securing a remarkable 6-wicket win. Earlier, Gorakhpur’s innings started poorly.
Gorakhpur’s innings also saw a shaky start, with their first wicket falling at just 3 runs. Dhruv Jurel and Akashdeep Nath added 45 runs for the second wicket.
