  • Congress Accuses Modi Govt Of Insulting Martyrs After War Memorial On Chinese Border ‘Demolished’ |

The Congress party today slammed the Narendra Modi-led Central government for bowing down to China after a war memorial built in the honour of a 1962 martyr was allegedly demolished following talks with the Chinese PLA. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge took to X (formerly Twitter) saying that the news of the demolition of the war memorial is painful. He also said that while the Modi government closed its ‘red eye’ on China, it also insulted the sacrifice of brave martyrs.

“The news of the demolition in 2021 of the memorial in Chushul, Ladakh of Major Shaitan Singh, the brave son of Mother India and recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, the great hero of the 1962 Rezang-La war, is extremely painful. According to reports, was this done because, after talks with China, Indian territory has now become the buffer zone? The one sentence comment by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India says nothing,” said Kharge.

He further said, “Why even after 20 meetings between Modi ji and Xi Jinping since 2014, the Modi government has failed to make India maintain the status quo just like before May 2020 on its share on Depsang Plain, Pangong Tso, Demchowk and Gogra-Hotspring areas?”

Kharge also asked whether it’s not true that after the sacrifice of lives of 20 army personnel in Galwan, Modi ji gave a clean chit to China. “The supreme sacrifice of 113 brave soldiers for the defence of Rezang La by C Company of 13 Kumaon under the leadership of Major Shaitan Singh is the pride of the country. By demolishing his memorial, the BJP has once again proved to the country that it is a fake patriot. It is sad that this government has surrendered to Chinese plans,” said Kharge.

  • Why Did Rahul Gandhi, Congress Choose Nagpur For `Hain Taiyyar Hum` Rally?

Addressing the rally, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that RSS’ ideology is destroying the nation.

  • Nitish Kumar says ‘not upset’ with INDIA bloc’s proposal on Kharge’s name |

In a move to end scepticism over a possible rift within the INDIA bloc, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said he did not convey any willingness to get a post in the bloc, emphasising that he is not ‘upset’.

The chief minister added that he will be on board with whatever decision the bloc takes.

The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc of the Opposition met in New Delhi last week for its fourth meeting. The meeting came after Congress suffered a major setback in three states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

During the meeting, key opposition leaders recommended Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s name for the prime ministerial post.

In August, Nitish Kumar had reiterated that he did not want the post of national convener of the INDIA bloc, adding that his move to drive the Opposition into unity was not motivated by “personal ambition.”

Meanwhile, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi dialled up Kumar after reports surfaced that he is unhappy with the bloc and how it is advancing. The INDIA bloc meeting concluded with the decision that a call on seat sharing ahead of Lok Sabha elections 2024 would be taken soon.

Currently, the INDIA bloc has set a deadline of December 31 for seat sharing. The Opposition bloc has also decided to launch nationwide public meetings soon. A special focus will also be put on Uttar Pradesh ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

On the other hand, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has set a goal of securing 50 per cent vote share in the next Lok Sabha elections. The party has also announced the beginning of cluster meetings from January 15 while the Yuva Morcha will hold around 5,000 conferences across the country.

The cluster meetings will be attended and addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP President JP Nadda.

Meanwhile, the BJP Yuva Morcha will begin a new campaign for new voters across the nation from January 24.

  • Rahul Gandhi Corners BJP Govt Over Parliament Security Breach, Attacks PM Modi, Amit Shah At Jantar Mantar Protest |

NEW DELHI: Congress Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a blistering attack on the Narendra Modi government over the recent security breach at Parliament and asked the ruling disposition to fix accountability for the shocking security lapse. The Congress leader also reiterated that unemployment and inflation due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies were the reasons behind the Parliament security breach.

Addressing a huge gathering of supporters at the Jantar Mantar, Rahul Gandhi said, “2-3 youths entered Parliament and released smoke. At this moment, BJP MPs ran away. In this incident, there is the question of a serious security breach, but there is another question of why they protested this way. The answer is unemployment in the country.”

Hitting out at the national media, Rahul said, “The media did not talk about unemployment in the country. But it talked about Rahul Gandhi recording a video where suspended MPs were sitting outside the Parliament…”

In a powerful display of dissent, leaders from the Opposition bloc, INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance), began their nationwide protest at the Jantar Mantar on Friday in response to the recent suspension of 146 MPs from Parliament. The latest round of protests from the Opposition members comes after days of disruption and chaos at the Parliament in the wake of the incident on December 13, where two individuals breached the Lok Sabha chamber, releasing smoke from canisters.

Nationwide Outcry: INDIA Alliance Mobilizes Against BJP Government

Leader of the Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge, announced on Thursday that the protest is not limited to the capital. Simultaneous demonstrations will unfold in all district headquarters across the country, denouncing what he termed the “immoral and illegal” behavior of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government. He emphasized the opposition’s commitment to upholding democratic values and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the security breach issue in the House.

“The PM should come and speak in the house first. This is really condemnable! We are repeatedly requesting the speaker of the Lok Sabha and the chairman of the Rajya Sabha. The members of the ruling party are disturbing the proceedings. This shows that they (the BJP) don’t have faith in India’s democracy. The constitution and democratic practices should be upheld. Tomorrow, INDIA leaders will protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Throughout the country, Opposition leaders will protest against this immoral and illegal behaviour of the BJP government,” Kharge said on Thursday.

Rahul Gandhi Takes The Lead: Congress Leader To Join Protest

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived at the protest venue -Jantar Mantar, around 11 AM to take part in the ongoing protest. Besides Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury, NCP chief Sharad Pawar and several other top leaders of the INDIA bloc were seen taking part in the ‘Save Democracy’ protest against mass suspension of MPs at the Jantar Mantar. The protest aims to draw attention to the suspension of opposition MPs and the perceived disregard for parliamentary norms.

Kharge Condemns BJP’s Conduct, Calls For Prime Minister’s Accountability

In a scathing critique, Mallikarjun Kharge condemned the conduct of the ruling party, accusing them of disrupting proceedings and undermining India’s democracy. He called on Prime Minister Modi to address the House before anything else, emphasizing the opposition’s repeated requests for a discussion on the security breach.

National Outcry: Protests Escalate Across States

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor echoed Kharge’s sentiments, emphasizing the need for nationwide protests. He asserted that the INDIA alliance protest would be widespread, demonstrating the opposition’s united stand against what they perceived as an assault on democracy. “It’s appropriate to protest and all of us will be at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The INDIA alliance protest will happen everywhere (Friday) morning in all the states because we want to show the public that if they’d run Parliament like this and won’t listen to the opposition then they are ruining the democracy,” said Tharoor.

AAP MPs Join The Fray: Support For INDIA Bloc Grows

Adding to the momentum, AAP MPs, including ND Gupta, Sandeep Pathak, Sant Balbir Seecehwal, and Sanjeev Arora, will join the INDIA bloc protest, further amplifying the collective voice against the government’s actions.

The ongoing winter session of Parliament has witnessed an unprecedented wave of suspensions, with three more Congress MPs -D K Suresh, Deepak Baij, and Nakul Nath -joining the list of suspended lawmakers.

Protests, March Against Suspension Of MPs

On Thursday, INDIA bloc MPs marched from Parliament to Vijay Chowk in protest of the suspension of opposition lawmakers. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged violation of parliamentary privilege for not addressing the security breach issue in the House. The lawmakers carried a large ‘Save Democracy’ banner and placards reading ‘Opposition MPs Suspended,’ ‘Parliament Caged,’ and ‘Democracy Expelled’ during the march.

What Led To The Suspension Of MPs?

The suspension of 145 MPs during the current winter session of Parliament stems from a critical incident on December 13. Two individuals breached the sanctity of the Lok Sabha chamber, unleashing smoke from canisters and triggering a chain of disruptions initiated by the opposition.

The primary catalyst for the suspension lies in the Opposition’s persistent interference with House proceedings, demanding accountability for the security breach. Their pivotal request revolves around a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking clarity on the circumstances surrounding the breach.

This ongoing saga has resulted in the suspension of a significant number of lawmakers, with 100 from the Lok Sabha and 46 from the Rajya Sabha facing disciplinary action. The suspension, attributed to their involvement in “creating chaos and disrupting proceedings,” underscores the profound impact of the December 13 incident on the parliamentary landscape.

The Opposition, at the moment, remains resolute in its demand for accountability and an open discussion on the security breach issue, setting the stage for a continued standoff in the days to come.

  • 2024 Lok Sabha Elections To Be ‘Modi Vs Kharge’? INDIA Bloc Leaders Propose Congress President’s Name For PM Post |

Four months ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha elections 2024, the opposition bloc INDIA today held its fourth meeting and for the first time, the leaders took up a name for the Prime Ministerial post to challenge Narendra Modi. During the meeting, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal proposed that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge should be the coordinator of the INDIA bloc and that he should be projected as the Prime Ministerial candidate as well. MDMK (Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) MP Vaiko also said after the meeting that there was no opposition to that suggestion to make Kharge PM face.

However, Kharge himself downplayed the idea saying that the prime focus should be on winning the polls. “First, all of us have to win, we should think about what needs to be done for victory. Who will be PM, this will be decided later. If there are fewer MPs, what is the point of talking about the PM? First, to increase our numbers, (by) coming together, we will try to bring the majority. First, we will try to win,” he said.

New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government on Monday, accusing them of making a “mockery of democracy” following the suspension of 46 Opposition MPs in the Lok Sabha for the remainder of the Winter Session.

Ruckus In Parliament: 46 MPs Suspended For “Misconduct”

A total of forty-six Opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) faced suspension for alleged “misconduct” and non-compliance with the Chair’s directives, sparking criticism from Banerjee. She questioned the move, emphasizing the importance of a democratic system and the role of the opposition in raising crucial issues.

Choked Voices: Opposition Silenced, Says Mamata Banerjee

“The voices of the people have been choked. Let them suspend the House first. They have no moral right to run this House to suspend the opposition fully…They will run a mockery, nothing else. It is a mockery of democracy,” declared the West Bengal CM, expressing concern over the stifling of dissenting voices.

Joining Hands With Congress And Seat-Sharing

Responding to queries about joining hands with Congress, Mamata Banerjee stated, “Somebody must bell the cat…I don’t have any problem if they have genuine things. But in West Bengal, they have only two seats. I am open to talk and discuss.” On the delay in seat sharing in the INDIA alliance, she remarked, “It is not late. Better late than never…”

“Loot and jumlas have made the country unhealthy. Only lies are embedded in every word of Modi ji! Claimed that they have set up many AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences). It is the truth that our AIIMS are facing a severe shortage of doctors and staff!” the Congress chief said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Mr Modi, From apathy during the Coronavirus pandemic to scams in Ayushman Bharat, your government has made the country’s health system sick,” Kharge alleged.

  • For last 10 years, you’ve only done negative politics, now uttering bitter words for INDIA: Kharge slams PM Modi

    By PTI

NEW DELHI: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his ‘quit India’ jibe at the opposition, saying it is ‘our victory’ that those who did not remember the ‘Quit India Movement’ for 75 years are doing so now.

Kharge’s attack on Modi came hours after the prime minister, while addressing an event to lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations, accused the opposition of playing ‘negative politics’ and said now the entire country is rooting for corruption, dynasty and appeasement to ‘quit India’.

Hitting back at Modi, Kharge said, “Prime Minister Modi, For the last 10 years, you have only done negative politics of divisiveness.

You are now uttering bitter words for INDIA as well.”

“You have not been able to control Manipur violence in the last three months. Your divisive politics has pitted communities against each other, leading to a civil war-like situation. More than 150 people have been killed so far,” Kharge said in a tweet in Hindi.

The Congress chief said the whole country is watching what is happening in Haryana.

“Where there have been no riots for decades, your government and your ‘Sangh Parivar’ people are making a brother fight with his brother. Radical criminals are enemies of the society, irrespective of which religion they belong to,” Kharge said.

The Congress president alleged that in the last 10 years, Modi has only given this country unemployment, inflation, economic inequality, poverty, insecurity for women, Dalit oppression and social injustice.

“All this needs to end. It seems impossible for your government. There is disappointment in the public.

Instead of solving the problems, the Prime Minister finds a new inauguration programme for himself every day. He does politics during government events – attacks the opposition,” Kharge said.

“Your political forefathers pitted Indians against Indians, supported British rule, served as informers for them and strongly opposed Quit India (movement). Had a suspect role in the conspiracy to assassinate Gandhi. Opposed the tricolour. They did not hoist it till 52 years of independence. Sardar Patel had to warn them for boycotting the tricolour,” Kharge said.

The Quit India Movement which was not remembered for 75 years, is now being remembered by them, Kharge said adding that “this is our victory”.

“Bharat judega, INDIA jeetega,” Kharge said.

After laying the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the railway stations via video conferencing, Modi on Sunday morning alleged that a section of the opposition is driven by the principle of neither working nor letting others work.

“Unfortunately, in our country, there is a section of the opposition who even today won’t do anything themselves and won’t allow others to do anything either. They are stuck with this attitude,” he said.

Referring to the Quit India Movement anniversary on August 9, the prime minister said it was a historic day that created new energy in India’s struggle for Independence.

Today the whole country is roaring ‘Quit India’ for every evil, corruption, dynasty and appeasement, he said.

“Inspired by the Quit India Movement, the entire country is now roaring Quit India for every evil, saying ‘corruption, quit India’, ‘dynasty, quit India’, ‘appeasement, quit India’,” Modi said.
