  • Samsung on Apple’s path, charger will not be available with this smartphone

Apple had decided not to provide chargers and earphones with the iPhone 12 and at that time big companies like Xiaomi, OnePlus and Samsung made fun of Apple. Now it is news that Samsung is also following the path of Apple. According to the report, Samsung Galaxy S21 is now going to sell without charger in many countries. According to the report of xda developers, the sale of Galaxy S21 in Brazil will now be without charger, although this has not been confirmed by Samsung yet. If this happens, Samsung will be the second company after Apple to not provide a charger in the box with the phone.

Let me tell you that Samsung had made fun of iPhone without charger on its Facebook page, but this post was later deleted. Now the Galaxy S21 has been seen in Brazil with no charger, but it has not yet been clear that in other countries also Samsung will sell the Galaxy S21 without charger or provide the charger together.

  • Agency in Brazil Demands Apple Re-Bundle Chargers With New iPhones

A consumer protection agency in Brazil is demanding that Apple re-bundle new iPhones with a charger, citing the company’s rationale of reducing carbon emissions as suspect.

In October, Apple revealed the iPhone 12 would be sold without a power adapter in an effort to downsize the packaging, and thereby minimize the environmental impact.

However, Procon-SP, Sao Paulo’s consumer protection agency, has called on Apple to bring back the power adaptors, saying local consumers expect them to be bundled with their new iPhones.

Apple should have done more to notify customers about why it removed the power adapters from the iPhone 12, the agency says. Procon-SP is also skeptical of Apple’s environmental-impact claims, noting that the company didn’t offer to recycle old iPhone power adapters.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment. But Procon-SP says the company argues that existing iPhone owners already own a compatible charger. Thus, there’s no need for Apple to churn out extra power adapters and add more carbon emissions to the planet.

The Procon-SP review could result in a fine if Apple is found to have violated local consumer protection laws. European lawmakers have also been calling on Apple to build iPhones with a USB-C port instead of a Lightning one in an effort to reduce the number of compatible chargers consumers need to own.

  • Xbox Series X controller support coming to iPhone

Apple is set to be working with Microsoft to enable support for controllers of Microsoft’s next-gen consoles Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S that recently went on sale worldwide. The news was confirmed in a document on Apple’s website that mentions the controllers that iPhones support.

The new controller may not have been as improved as the Dualsense PlayStation 5 controller but it is still an improvement over its predecessor. It may also be true that iOS 14.3 beta version already has the support to connect the new Xbox controllers as there have been reports that it has support for Sony’s Dualsense controller.

Apple may have not marketed the iPhones as devices that are capable of hardcore gaming until recently but even the ones that were launched two-three years ago are capable of running FPS games at ease. However, not everyone is satisfied with the touch controls and these gamers often resort to connect controllers and also mount them to game more effortlessly.

  • Apple could release some iPhones without 3D touch to save money

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed three potential new iPhone models Apple might release this year. One of them was a 6.1-inch iteration that would borrow elements from both the iPhone X and iPhone 8 models. Kuo previously noted that the 6.1-inch model wouldn’t have 3D Touch, and now we have more details about it.

According to Chinese website Feng, and as spotted by MacRumors, Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple’s new 6.1-inch phone will have an updated display. That new display will supposedly raise costs to between $23 and $26, leading Kuo to predict that because Apple’s new display module is more expensive, it might give up 3D Touch features to balance costs.

According to Kuo, the new 6.1-inch iPhone will use something called Cover Glass Sensor (CGS) technology which will reportedly allow the display to be lighter and more impact resistant. According to the memo seen by Feng, the iPhone’s touch module will also be moved from the display panel to the surface glass. The new iPhone will also have a “thin-film sensor”, but it’s unclear what that exactly is and what it does.

The removal of 3D Touch doesn’t seem too farfetched given it’s quite polarizing — some users find it useful, while others find it useless. Apple has also been rumored to be developing new technology including touchless gesture controls and a curved display.

The memo predicts that Apple will use that new CGS display on all new iPhone models in 2019, and that 3D Touch may be scrapped from iPhones altogether in the future.
