  • New Independence: Forest dwellers to elect village heads for first time in UP

    LUCKNOW:  For the first time since Independence, the Vantangiyas (forest dwellers) of Gorakhpur and adjoining districts will participate in the panchayat elections and elect their own village head as the first-phase voting for Uttar Pradesh panchayat polls gets underway on April 15.

    The tribe lives in dense woods of Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Gonda and Balrampur in eastern UP.While Gorakhpur district has five Vantangiya villages, the adjoining Maharajganj has 18 and Gonda and Balrampur have five each. These areas became revenue villages in 2017.

    “The election will result in their real empowerment,” says Manoj Singh, a social activist. The Gorakhpur vantangiya villages will vote in the first phase. Over 3,500 of tribal voters will choose their own gram pradhan.

    These villagers had voted for the first time in the 2019 general election. But the panchayat polls are more relatable to them as the elected person will be living among them and listen to their day-to-day problems.CM Yogi Adityanath has had a long relationship with the tribe as he has been celebrating all major festivals with them in their villages as the Gorakhpur MP and Mahant of the revered Gorakhnath Peeth. After becoming CM, he has kept his date with the tribe on Diwali.

  • Merchant Integration Panel announced the candidates for Raipur district

    The Merchant Integration Panel on Wednesday announced its candidates for the Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries election. Panel spokesperson Lalit Jaising said that the Panch Committee has nominated Chander Vidhani, Prakash Lalwani, Prakash Lalwani, Alok Singh, Harakh Malu, Subhash Aggarwal, Ashwani Vig, Raju Bhai Tarawani and Vasudev Jotwani for the post of Vice President. Similarly, Sudesh Mandyan, Rajesh Gurnani, Lokesh Chandrakant Jain, Akash Amar Dhavana, Satish Bagdi, Rajesh Setpal, Girish Patel and Sukhdev Singh Sidhu have been nominated for the post of ministers. On Wednesday, the Panchayat Samiti met at the Chief Election Office. It was announced in the presence of members Srichand Sundrani, Ramesh Modi, Pooranlal Agarwal, Dilip Singh Hora, Harcharan Sahni, Tilokchand Baria, Mohan Tejwani, Sushil Aggarwal, Jitendra Barlotta, Lalchand Gulwani and Prakash Agrawal. The meeting was attended by Yogesh Aggarwal, President of the Merchant Integration Panel, Rajesh Vaswani, General Secretary and Treasurer Nikesh Bardia.

This building has been constructed in Sector 19 of North Block of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. The Chief Minister while congratulating and congratulating the State Election Commissioner Thakur Ramsingh and the officials and staff of Chhattisgarh State Election Commission said that in this new convenient building, officers and employees will get an opportunity to work in a systematic manner. The Chief Minister said that in a democratic country, the State Election Commission has an important role in the election of local bodies and three-tier Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state. The State Election Commission has performed its duties well in the last 20 years.

  • India’s Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan Nominated To Global Vaccine Alliance GAVI’s Board

    According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has been nominated to be a board member at the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI). Dr Harsh Vardhan will be representing the South East Area Regional Office (SEARO)/ Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO) constituency on the GAVI Board from January 1, 2021 until December 31, 2023. At present, the seat is held by Myint Htwe of Myanmar.

    The GAVI Board holds an annual retreat, in March or April and generally meets twice a year, that is in June and November/December. All of these meetings are normally to be attended in person. Dr Ngozi Okonjo-iweala presently serves as Chair of the GAVI Alliance Board. 

    The GAVI Board provides a forum for balanced strategic decision making, innovation and partner collaboration with membership drawn from a range of partner organisations, as well as experts from the private sector. The board is responsible for the strategic direction and policy-making oversees the operations of the Vaccine Alliance and monitors programme implementation.

    Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected the construction work of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, a ‘dream project’ of PM Modi, offered prayer at Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

    One of the most challenging projects so far has been the development of a 50-feet-wide Kashi Vishwanath Corridor.He also asked for detailed information about the progress of the work from the officers and directed them to complete the work at the given period of time.

    Later, CM also contributed blankets to the poor people living in the shelter home built in the Townhall near Madagin and sought information from them about the arrangements

  • Biden To Call For 100 Days Of Mask-wearing, Hopes To ‘see Significant Reduction’ In COVID

    President-elect Joe Biden on December 3 said that he will ask all citizens to wear masks for the first 100 days after he acquires the White House following the inauguration day on January 20, 2021. While talking to CNN for the first time after November 3, the winner of US Election 2020 indicated how he is willing to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic especially when the deaths and daily cases are reaching a record high. Saying that he will not give “forever” to American to wear masks, Biden assured that the United States will see a significant reduction in the outbreak once that happens. 

    Both Biden and vice president-elect Kamala Harris will be taking part in the first joint interview since winning the election at a time when they are aggressively building their administration and outlining the policy priorities that will dominate the White House for the next four years after Donald Trump. Biden indicated his start approach towards the COVID-19 pandemic from that of the incumbent when the deaths and cases of the highly-infectious disease reached highest levels recorded till date.

    Meanwhile, Trump is seen sidelining the health crisis and making the baseless claims of ‘election fraud’ his primary concern. But the president-elect has chosen to talk about the economy, COVID-19 and climate crisis as the key issues.

  • Organizing a meeting to review the reading and writing campaign

    According to the instructions of the Chief Electoral Officer of the state, the revision 2021 program is being conducted. For effective implementation of this program in Sarguja district, photo-electoral nominations will be reviewed for special publicity of special revision, preparation of reading and writing campaign. The Deputy District Election Officer gave notice of the meeting to all the development block project officers of the district and the officials of the Public Education Committee of the development block, the principal of all government and non-government colleges, tehsildars and chief executive officers of the Janpad Panchayat to be present in the meeting with necessary preparations. Have said This meeting has been held on 2 December 2020 at 1 pm in the office located behind the Jan Shikshan Sansthan Diet Hostel.

  • PM Modi calls for ‘One Nation, One Election’, says this is the need of India

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressedd the concluding session of the 80th All India Presiding Officers Conference today via video conferencing. The two-day conference began yesterday at Kevadia in Gujarat.

    President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurates the conference which is being attended by Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, the state’s Chief Minister Vijay Rupani among others. Speaker Om Birla is also the chairperson of the conference.

    The All India Presiding Officers Conference began in 1921, and the Gujarat event marks its centenary year. The theme for this year’s conference is Harmonious Coordination between Legislature, Executive and Judiciary – Key to a Vibrant Democracy.
