  • Nick Carter remembers his ‘baby brother’ Aaron Carter

    By Associated Press

NEW YORK: The day after 34-year-old singer Aaron Carter was found dead at his home in Southern California, Nick Carter, the Backstreet Boys member, remembered his younger brother, saying that despite “a complicated relationship”, his love for him “never ever faded”.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, with photos of the two through the years, Nick Carter said his heart was broken after the death of the youngest of five Carter siblings, whom he called his “baby brother”.

“My heart has been broken today,” wrote Carter.

“Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held onto the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.”

Deputies responded around 11 am Saturday following reports of a medical emergency at Carter’s home in Lancaster, California. Authorities said a house sitter found a man in the bathtub in the home and resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Carter had struggled with substance abuse and mental health.

In 2017, he attended rehab and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and on marijuana charges.

In 2019, Carter said on an episode of the talk show “The Doctors” that he was taking medication for acute anxiety, manic depression and multiple personality disorder.

That same year, Nick and Angel, Aaron’s twin sister, said they filed a restraining order against Aaron.

In September, Carter said he went into rehab for the fifth time in the hopes of regaining custody of his young son, Prince, with his fiance Melanie Martin.

At the time, Prince was under the court-ordered care of Martin’s mother.

“Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here,” Nick Carter wrote in the post.

“I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz, now you get a chance to finally have some peace you could never find here on earth. God, Please take care of my baby brother.”

In 2012, their sister, Leslie Carter, died after falling in the shower in the year 2012 at the age of 25. Authorities said she had suffered an overdose of prescription medication.

Carter once said he felt his family partly blamed him for her death.

Carter, a singer, rapper and actor, opened for the Backstreet Boys tour in 1997, the same year his gold-selling debut self-titled album was released.

He reached triple-platinum status with his sophomore album, 2000’s “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It),” which produced hit singles including the title song and “I Want Candy.”

Carter’s acting credits included the television show “Lizzie McGuire” and an appearance on “Dancing With the Stars.” He starred alongside his brother, Nick, and their siblings BJ, Leslie and Angel Carter on the E! unscripted series “House of Carters” in 2006.

Hilary Duff, who starred in “Lizzie McGuire”, recalled Carter as having an “effervescent” charm, and said her “teenage self” loved him deeply.

“I’m deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in front of the whole world,” she wrote on Instagram.

Angel Carter, his twin sister, also responded on social media.

“My funny, sweet Aaron, I have so many memories of you and me, and I promise to cherish them,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I know you’re at peace now. I will carry you with me until the day I die and get to see you again.”

GURUGRAM: The husband of the woman whose naked body was found stuffed inside a suitcase near IFFCO Chowk here a couple of days ago was arrested Wednesday for allegedly killing her, police said.

Police claimed that the 22-year-old man Rahul has confessed that he killed his wife over domestic strife.

The deceased has been identified as Priyanka (20) who lived with her husband and a one-year-old daughter at a rented accommodation in Sirhual village here, a police official said, adding they got married in February last year.

After the woman’s body was found on Monday afternoon, police filed an FIR under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (hiding the evidence) at Sector 18 police station.

The post-mortem revealed that she was strangulated to death.

A police team scanned footage from CCTVs at IFFCO Chowk and identified an e-rickshaw in which the accused had reached the spot with the suitcase, ACP (crime) Preet Pal Singh Sangwan said.

“On questioning the e-rickshaw driver, it was found that the person had boarded the vehicle from Sirhaul village. Following combing of the village, Rahul was nabbed,” the police officer said.

During interrogation, Rahul revealed that the wife used to demand mobile, TV and refrigerator which was out of his means since he earned a meagre salary.

They used to fight over this issue quite often.

On the night of October 16, Priyanka slapped Rahul following a fight, which enraged him and he strangulated her, Sangwan said.

On the morning of October 17, he bought a big suitcase and stuffed her wife’s naked body into it after peeling off the skin from her hand which had her name tattooed.

The knife also has been recovered by police, the ACP said.

“We have informed the families of both the accused and deceased,” the police officer added.

  • Kanpur: Family keeps man’s body at home for 18 months thinking he is in coma

    By PTI

KANPUR: In a bizarre incident, the family of an Income Tax department employee who died last year kept his body at home here for almost 18 months assuming that he was in a coma.

The man’s wife, who appears to be mentally unstable, sprinkled ‘gangajal’ on his highly decomposed body every morning, hoping that it would help him come out of the coma, an official on Friday said.

In a statement, the Kanpur police said Dixit’s death certificate issued by a private hospital stated that he died due to sudden cardiac respiratory syndrome on April 22, 2021.

Vimlesh Dixit, who worked in the Income Tax department, died in April last year but his family was reluctant to perform his last rites because they believed he was in a coma, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Alok Ranjan said.

“I was informed by Kanpur’s Income Tax officials, who requested that the matter be investigated as the family pension files hadn’t moved an inch,” he said.

When a team of health officials along with policemen and the magistrate reached Dixit’s house in the Rawatpur area on Friday, his family members insisted that he was alive and in a coma, Ranjan said.

After much persuasion, the family members allowed the health team to take the body to Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital, where medical tests declared him dead, he said.

The CMO said a three-member team has been constituted to look into the matter thoroughly and asked to submit its findings at the earliest.

Police said the body was found in a highly decomposed state.

Dixit’s family had also told their neighbours that he was in a coma. His wife appears to be mentally unstable, an official said on condition of anonymity.

Neighbours told police that the family members were often seen taking oxygen cylinders home.

DHAMTARI: A man allegedly killed his father with a spade in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh for constantly taunting him and his wife for not having a child, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Shivnarayan Satnami (55), suffered grievous injuries after being attacked by his son Khelandas with a spade in Devpur village under Nagri development block on Tuesday evening, a police official here said.

“Satnami succumbed to injuries at a private hospital here on Wednesday,” he said.

“As per the preliminary information, Satnami reportedly used to scold his son and daughter-in-law Sangeeta for not having a child despite getting married 11 years ago,” he said.

“On Wednesday, he got into an argument with Sangeeta, taunting her for the same and started abusing her. The duo went out of the home on the street, but Satnami continued abusing her. Khelandas, who was also in the house, came out carrying a spade in his hand and attacked his father leaving him seriously injured,” he said.

“Sangeeta and other family members along with locals shifted Satnami to Nagri Hospital, from where he was referred to Dhamtari. Soon after being alerted about it, a police team was rushed to the spot and the accused was arrested,” he added.

“Prima facie, it seems that Khelandas was fed up with being constantly taunted by his father. In a fit of rage, he allegedly murdered him,” the official said, adding that further probe is underway.
