In a commanding performance, India A, captained by Shreyas Iyer, comprehensively defeated Australia A in the first match of the three-match ODI series held at Green Park, Kanpur. India A dominated the match, first amassing a huge score batting and then restricting Australia to under 250. India A won the match by a massive 171 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series. India A won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a formidable target. Priyansh Arya and Shreyas Iyer starred with centuries, propelling the team to 413 runs for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs. This marked the third instance of India A crossing the 400-run mark in List A cricket. Priyansh Arya scored 101 runs off 84 balls, including 11 fours and 5 sixes. Shreyas Iyer contributed 110 runs from 83 balls, hitting 12 fours and 4 sixes. Prabhsimran Singh provided a strong start with 56 runs off 53 balls, while Riyan Parag scored 67 runs off 42 balls. Ayush Badoni’s quickfire 50 runs off 27 balls helped the team reach a massive total. For Australia, Will Sutherland took two wickets, while Tom Straker, Liam Scott, Todd Murphy, and Tanveer Sangha each took one wicket.
Chasing a target of 414 runs, Australia started well, reaching over 150 runs for the loss of just two wickets in 20 overs. However, the Indian bowlers fought back, bowling out the entire Australian team for 242 runs in 33.1 overs. Nishant Sindhu was the most successful bowler, taking four wickets for 50 runs in 6.1 overs. Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets. Ayush Badoni, Yudhvir Singh, Simarjeet Singh, and Gurjapneet Singh each claimed one wicket.
