For the first time, Srinagar’s iconic Clock Tower in Lal Chowk hosted the 11th International Yoga Day, attracting thousands from across Jammu and Kashmir. This event highlighted the growing embrace of yoga in the region, with significant participation from local residents and tourists. Celebrations, primarily attended by students, resonated throughout the valley, signifying yoga’s increasing popularity and a shift towards healthier living. India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh joined the Udhampur district celebrations, emphasizing yoga’s importance for peace and well-being. The BJP organized the Lal Chowk event to boost tourism and project Kashmir as a peaceful destination. Participants, including students and tourists, shared positive experiences, highlighting the stress-relieving and health benefits of yoga. The initiative to celebrate International Yoga Day, spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, has been instrumental in fostering wellness and harmony.
