Supreme Court Orders Immediate Release of Incarcerated Individuals Whose Sentences Have Expired

The Supreme Court has issued a significant ruling concerning the high-profile Nitish Katara murder case, ordering the release of Sukhdev Yadav, also known as Pehlwan, who has already served his sentence. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court directed all states and union territories to release prisoners whose sentences have been completed without delay. The court's order mandates an assessment to identify any convicts who may be incarcerated beyond their sentence terms.

The Supreme Court stated that any convict still in jail after completing their sentence, and not wanted in any other case, must be released immediately.
