In a strong show of support, BJP stalwart Shrikant Bharatiya praised RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat for demanding Bharat Ratna for freedom icon Veer Savarkar, terming it the voice of all true nation-lovers.
Speaking to IANS here in Mumbai, Bharatiya delved into Savarkar’s monumental contributions: his lifelong devotion, the ultimate sacrifices, and the global recognition of his role in securing India’s liberty. ‘Bhagwat ji has captured the pulse of crores who revere Savarkar,’ he said, positioning the statement as a reflection of widespread public sentiment.
Bharatiya didn’t hold back in criticizing Congress leader Imran Masood’s disparaging comments on Savarkar. ‘If Masood was born on Indian soil, he must grasp our freedom history. Who fought? Who sacrificed? Who spent 14 agonizing years in Kaala Paani?’ he challenged, lamenting Masood’s apparent lack of awareness as a personal tragedy.
Urging Masood to delve into the annals of independence heroes, Bharatiya stressed the importance of honoring those who selflessly served the motherland.
Defending the selection of Ritu Tawde as BMC mayor hopeful, Bharatiya reiterated the party’s commitment: ‘We promised Mumbai a Hindu, Marathi face from Mahayuti, echoing Fadnavis’s words. Tawde embodies that perfectly—we stand by our word.’
On UCC, Bharatiya affirmed its longstanding priority for BJP, with ongoing societal dialogues. ‘Bhagwat’s endorsement mirrors the dreams of millions, fostering inclusion and unity across the nation,’ he wrapped up, painting a vision of progressive harmony.
