Srinagar gears up for a landmark infrastructure push as Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launches PMGSY-4 Batch-2. The initiative will add 330 roads covering 1,600 km, connecting 363 villages with an investment of Rs 3,550 crore. This builds on two decades of PMGSY success in Jammu and Kashmir, where 19,851 km of roads and 257 bridges have been built since 2000.
Joining Chouhan at the SKICC event are CM Omar Abdullah and Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary, symbolizing collaborative governance. The April 28 ceremony at 11 AM will feature formal approvals for the new phase, alongside advancements in rural livelihood programs.
‘Under PM Modi’s leadership, we’re delivering tangible results,’ Chouhan affirmed, prioritizing connectivity for remote areas. The scheme’s expansion aligns with broader efforts, including 96,000 active self-help groups strengthening village economies through skill development and women-led enterprises.
Agricultural support remains robust with PM-KISAN payouts, horticulture missions, FPOs, e-NAM, and infrastructure funds aiding farmers. Micro-irrigation schemes further enhance productivity in challenging terrains.
Chouhan’s Srinagar visit heralds a new era of accessibility, economic vitality, and self-reliance for J&K’s rural heartland, promising sustained development momentum.
