In a blistering critique, Shiv Sena (UBT) parliamentarian Priyanka Chaturvedi labeled Pakistan’s reversal on the India T20 World Cup boycott as a national embarrassment. The Rajya Sabha member accused both cricketing bodies of trivializing a grave issue, while also taking swipes at the government’s parliamentary management.
‘What kind of circus is this?’ Chaturvedi fumed. ‘Pakistan toys with the idea of not playing, builds suspense across India, then meekly agrees. Real shame would mean honoring their initial stance and skipping the match altogether. This U-turn screams of their lack of gravity.’
Chaturvedi’s comments subtly questioned the BCCI’s role, noting how citizens are closely monitoring every development. She recalled the Prime Minister’s firm anti-terrorism stance after ‘Operation Sindoor’—zero tolerance, no business, no dialogue with Pakistan. Playing cricket under these circumstances, she argued, demands serious answers.
Shifting focus to Parliament, she decried the ongoing assaults on opposition voices. ‘Treasury benches keep weakening us, citing books—even one from our ex-Army Chief—creating chaos without the PM stepping in to address it.’
Chaturvedi portrayed this as a threat to democracy’s core, calling for accountability. As cricket fever builds ahead of the World Cup, her words underscore the intersection of sports, politics, and national pride, reminding everyone that some decisions transcend the boundary ropes.
