In a stirring tribute to Mother Earth on April 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared protecting the planet not just a task, but a sacred promise to unborn generations. Sharing on social media platform X, he wrote, ‘Earth is our mother, and its safeguarding embodies humanity’s welfare. This is our solemn oath to posterity.’ Quoting sacred texts, Modi recited: ‘Yasyam vrksha vanaspatya dhruvastishthanti vishvaha. Prithvim dhenum praduhama na udichchhantu namo’stu prithivyai.’

The message aligns with India’s proactive environmental policies, gaining traction amid international summits on sustainability. Modi’s appeal fosters a sense of urgency, encouraging citizens to integrate eco-conscious habits into daily routines.

Union Minister and BJP President JP Nadda amplified the sentiment, noting World Earth Day as a mirror to our planet’s fate. ‘The choices we make now define tomorrow’s world. Make environmental stewardship a lifestyle,’ he posted. Nadda spotlighted PM-led campaigns such as Clean India Mission and One Tree in Mother’s Name, which have sparked widespread participation in greening efforts.

From Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi Adityanath invoked cultural reverence for Earth as the nurturing mother of all beings. Extending greetings on X, he called for a collective vow: ‘On this World Earth Day, let’s purify our soil from toxins and plant more trees.’

Uttarakhand’s leader Pushkar Singh Dhami wished everyone a green future, emphasizing, ‘Clean air and secure ecosystems aren’t optional—they’re the bedrock of progress. Pledge today to conserve, use resources wisely, and guard our waters, woods, and earth.’

As leaders unite in this clarion call, World Earth Day 2024 marks a pivotal moment. India’s blend of spiritual ethos and policy innovation promises a resilient planet, inspiring global movements for harmony with nature.
