Karnal, May 23: Devotional singer Kanhaiya Mittal has strongly criticized the viral 'Cockroach Janata Party' campaign, calling it a calculated effort by political opponents to mislead the public. Speaking at an event in his hometown, Mittal warned young Indians against following voices that lack consistent criticism of all political parties. Mittal, who admitted working earlier with the Aam Aadmi Party, said those truly concerned about the country should work from within India rather than from abroad. He urged Gen Z to ask tough questions of every government and opposition group instead of targeting a single entity. Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi offered a more conciliatory view during an appearance in Vadodara. Oberoi maintained that every citizen possesses the fundamental right to express dissent, arguing that such open dialogue strengthens rather than weakens democracy. The campaign originated after Chief Justice Suryakant’s remarks comparing fake-degree holders to cockroaches, which many young job seekers interpreted as an insult. Social media activist Abhijeet Deepak transformed the phrase into a satirical political movement that now counts lakhs of supporters across platforms. Observers remain divided: some see the initiative as a powerful new channel for expressing youth frustration, while others predict it will fade once the initial novelty wears off. Yet the issues it highlights—unemployment, inequality, and governance—continue to dominate national conversation.
