In a proactive move ahead of April 26 local elections, Ahmedabad District Collector and Election Officer Sujit Kumar conducted an on-ground inspection of all 28 receiving-dispatching centers on Saturday. The visit aimed to verify readiness for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation polls alongside district, taluka panchayats, and municipal votes, prioritizing fairness and transparency.

During the tour, Kumar meticulously checked EVM storage, personnel allocation, and basic infrastructure. He audited workflows and provided targeted guidance to staff, ensuring operational smoothness.

Breaking down the centers: 16 serve the municipal corporation’s 4,257 polling booths; 9 handle panchayat elections across 1,125 stations; and 3 manage 132 municipal booths. A robust team of nearly 30,000 personnel, including 27,000 polling workers, stands ready.

Kumar emphasized comprehensive preparations. ‘Everything is set for voters to cast ballots freely and peacefully,’ he stated. Enhanced focus on center security, staff facilities, and procedural accuracy—from EVM distribution to secure strong-room storage—minimizes risks.

As Gujarat’s electoral spotlight shines on Ahmedabad, this inspection highlights administrative vigilance. With detailed planning, the district is poised for orderly polls, boosting confidence in India’s grassroots democracy and encouraging maximum participation.
