Ranchi witnessed a high-profile defection as Jharkhand’s former minister Dulal Bhuiyan, a prominent JMM figure, switched allegiance to the BJP alongside his loyal supporters. This move, held at the BJP provincial office, was celebrated with great fanfare, attended by top party leaders.
Aditya Sahu, the state BJP chief and parliamentarian, and Babulal Marandi, the opposition leader, personally inducted Bhuiyan into the party fold, adorning him with symbolic tokens of welcome. The grand gathering highlighted the strategic importance of Bhuiyan’s entry for BJP’s expansion.
A seasoned politician with three terms as MLA, Bhuiyan framed his joining as the collective will of the Bhuiyan society. He vowed lifelong commitment to BJP, crediting it for honoring Dalits with dignity and fairness. Bhuiyan assured full dedication to party duties ahead.
Addressing the crowd, Sahu portrayed BJP as an ideological powerhouse focused on Antyodaya—the welfare of the last in line—and the rise of marginalized sections. Under PM Modi’s vision, he said, the central government is bridging gaps for rural folk, the impoverished, and agriculturists.
Lashing out at Congress’s exploitative politics toward Dalits and Adivasis, Sahu accused the ruling state dispensation of injustice to Dalits amid collapsing security. He exuded confidence in BJP’s sweep in municipal elections. Marandi described Bhuiyan not as an individual but as a representative force for Dalits, enhancing BJP’s societal penetration.
JMM faced flak for ignoring common people’s needs. The program saw more than 200 new memberships, reflecting a wave of support tilting toward BJP in Jharkhand’s dynamic political arena.
