A new online trend mocking governance has drawn sharp criticism from Bihar’s Revenue Minister Dilip Jaiswal. The minister accused jobless youngsters behind the Cockroach Janata Party of spreading confusion rather than offering constructive solutions. During an event in Katihar, Jaiswal told reporters that India’s democracy is too robust to be shaken by internet jokes. He warned that such campaigns only distract from real issues like employment and development. The trend surfaced after Justice Suryakant’s comment during a Supreme Court hearing, which was later clarified. Despite the clarification, an X user named Abhijit Dipke launched a Google form inviting registrations for the so-called party, turning the phrase into a symbol of youth frustration. Jaiswal’s use of the term cockroach to describe the campaigners has drawn both support and condemnation online. Meanwhile, he also urged authorities in West Bengal to enforce a complete prohibition on cow slaughter during Eid-ul-Adha, citing religious sentiments. Political observers say the minister’s remarks reflect growing tension between traditional political rhetoric and digital-age protests in Bihar.
