In a bustling Monday cabinet meeting under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, the Delhi government unveiled plans for the upcoming budget session and major traffic-relief infrastructure. The Delhi Legislative Assembly will convene from March 23 to 25, focusing on fiscal strategies amid the city’s growth challenges.
Kicking things off, the Economic Survey Report drops on March 23, offering a deep dive into Delhi’s economic pulse. On March 24, Finance Minister will present the 2026-27 budget, a blueprint packed with investments in development and public services.
Stealing the spotlight were approvals for two game-changing infra projects. The Barapullah Phase-3 Elevated Corridor, now budgeted at Rs 1,635.03 crore, extends the existing structure from Sarai Kale Khan through Mayur Vihar to AIIMS. This signal-free route is set to revolutionize commutes, cutting down hours lost in gridlock around high-traffic zones.
Gupta hailed it as a boon for daily travelers, predicting smoother flows on Ring Road, DND, and NH-24. Targeted for completion by June 2026, the project underscores the government’s commitment to efficient urban transport.
Complementing this is the MB Road elevated six-lane corridor with underpass, stretching from Saket G-Block to Pul Prahladpur at Rs 1,471.14 crore. DMRC will handle construction in phases, ensuring timely delivery.
These moves, Gupta noted, propel ‘Viksit Delhi’ forward, echoing PM Modi’s national vision. With Delhi’s population booming, such proactive infrastructure investments are vital for sustainable mobility and economic vitality, promising a less congested future for residents.
