In a major push towards better infrastructure, the 12-km greenfield bypass on the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor is progressing at full throttle. Developed by NHAI as a four-lane access-controlled road, this 716-crore project stands at 44% completion, targeting April 2027 for inauguration.
The bypass bypasses Dehradun entirely, channeling traffic from Jhajra to NH-7 at Paonta Sahib-Ballupur and onward to Asharodi Check Post. This will alleviate urban congestion, reduce emissions, and improve mobility for nearby industrial and residential areas including Selakui, Vikasnagar, Herbertpur, and Paonta Sahib.
Inter-state links to Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh will strengthen, driving regional development. Eco-friendly elements shine through: speed limits drop to 80 km/h in forests, limited right-of-way saves vegetation, and wildlife corridors feature overpasses, culverts, fencing, and signage to safeguard biodiversity.
Residents can look forward to fluid traffic flow, diminished pollution, time savings, and elevated living standards. The route will also enhance access to popular tourist destinations like Mussoorie, potentially spurring the local economy through increased visitation.
