Union Minister Chirag Paswan has stated that Rahul Gandhi’s recent pronouncements suggest the Congress MP has conceded defeat in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Paswan criticized Gandhi for allegedly seeking excuses for potential electoral losses, suggesting the Congress should introspect internally rather than blaming external institutions. He specifically pointed to Gandhi’s accusations against the Election Commission and concerns about EVM manipulation as indicators of pre-emptive acceptance of defeat. Paswan further predicted losses for Congress in other states like Assam and Bengal. Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav supported Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of the Election Commission, alleging the BJP has compromised constitutional institutions. Yadav claimed that the BJP’s IT cell is aware of election schedules before they are officially announced, highlighting concerns about the integrity of these institutions. Rahul Gandhi’s earlier statements on X, regarding the Election Commission’s response to allegations about the Maharashtra polls, further fueled the controversy. The Election Commission had previously dismissed Gandhi’s claims as unsubstantiated. The ECI emphasized that such accusations undermine the rule of law and disrespect election officials.
