BJP Rushing Women’s Quota Amid Bengal Poll Promises: RJD

In a pointed attack, RJD parliamentarian Manoj Kumar Jha has called out the BJP for double standards in its election strategies across states. While unveiling West Bengal’s manifesto with monthly stipends for women and youth aid, Bihar remains neglected, he argued.

‘BJP fights elections in different states but shows massive disparities,’ Jha told reporters. He questioned the silence on Bihar’s earlier promises of Rs 10,000 startup funds scaling to Rs 2 lakh, and why Bengal’s youth get Rs 15,000 lump sums but not Bihar’s.

Turning to the Women’s Reservation Bill, Jha described it as inconsistent. Enacted amid the new Parliament’s inauguration, it was consensus-bound to 2034 implementation post-census and redistricting. ‘Rising political difficulties prompted haste, but without sub-quotas for disadvantaged women, it’s incomplete,’ he asserted, aligning with RJD’s firm stance.

Pappu Yadav from Purnea amplified the call for inclusive quotas covering EBC, OBC, ST, SC, minorities, and poor upper-caste women. ‘Bills marginalizing the vulnerable will be resisted tooth and nail,’ he declared.

On Justice Varma’s exit over cash seizure, Yadav expressed skepticism: ‘Hard to believe a judge keeps cash at home today. Proper investigation is needed.’

This critique arrives as parties gear up, spotlighting promises, pitfalls, and the push for equitable empowerment.
