The Rajya Sabha election aftermath in Bihar has ignited a firestorm of criticism against the BJP, with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut leading the charge. Accusing the saffron party of horse-trading through bribes and influence, Raut painted a grim picture of democracy under siege during a fiery media briefing in the capital.
Cross-voting incidents in Haryana, Bihar, and Odisha drew Raut’s ire. “Money and power did the trick for BJP everywhere,” he said, slamming their choice in Odisha—a convict in the coal scam with court-imposed jail time. This, he argued, exposes the BJP’s double standards, as they lecture on ethics while corrupting the Rajya Sabha.
“The BJP enjoys this, but the nation suffers,” Raut lamented, noting the opposition’s solidarity couldn’t withstand the cash onslaught. He predicted public backlash, as citizens grapple with rising prices and unresponsive governance. BJP’s forgotten election pledges, he added, will haunt them at the polls.
On a positive note, Raut praised Kharge’s initiative on women’s quota via letter to Rijiju, urging support without suspicion. Raut’s broadside signals escalating opposition unity against perceived BJP overreach, setting the stage for intense political showdowns.
