A recent statement by RJD leader and MLC Urmila Thakur has ignited a political storm in Bihar. Thakur compared RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav to Lord Shiva, drawing immediate criticism from both the BJP and JDU. Thakur made the statement while addressing a gathering at the unveiling of a BR Ambedkar statue in Muzaffarpur district. In her address, she referred to Lalu Yadav as a ‘living god’ in the Kaliyuga. This comparison has been met with strong reactions.
In a video that surfaced, Thakur stated, ‘After Shiva, if there is any other living God, a God on earth who blesses, then that person is Lalu Prasad Yadav.’ She further elaborated on how Lalu Prasad Yadav supported her, emphasizing his role.
The JDU and BJP were quick to respond. JDU leader Neeraj Kumar stated that Lalu Yadav had brought ‘havoc’ upon Bihar, unlike Lord Shiva who does not create property. BJP spokesperson Prabhakar Mishra criticized the comparison as an insult to Sanatan Dharma.
