Mass Illness in Muzaffarpur: 100 Ill After Eating Puja Prasad

Tragedy struck the Ram Khangura village in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district when a pre-wedding celebration resulted in a mass health crisis. Lotan Das had organized a Satyanarayan Katha to seek blessings for his son's upcoming wedding. The ritual concluded with the distribution of prasad among relatives and neighbors. While the event passed without immediate incident, the village woke up to a nightmare the following day as dozens of people, mostly children and women, began suffering from acute gastrointestinal distress. Medical teams at the Katra and Singhwara hospitals worked around the clock to stabilize the patients.
