Police in Bengaluru have arrested a boxing coach on charges of sexually harassing a minor athlete over an extended period. The 50-year-old, Ramchandra, worked at the Lions Boxing Club where the 17-year-old victim trained for the past decade. Investigators report that the abuse began roughly four years ago and involved repeated attempts to touch the girl, isolate her in rooms, and threaten her life if she spoke out. The victim told police that the coach’s behavior worsened recently. During a competition in Chennai on 17 May, he allegedly lured her into a room and tried to assault her. When she resisted, he issued violent threats. Distraught, the teenager confided in her mother, who filed a formal complaint. Officers moved quickly, detaining the coach and launching a detailed probe. The case has raised fresh concerns about athlete safety in city gyms. Officials say they are examining whether the coach targeted other young boxers and have urged parents to report any suspicious conduct immediately.
