Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir is set for a connectivity revolution with ₹600 crore sanctioned under PMGSY Phase IV’s first batch. BJP MLA Shakti Raj Parihar from Doda West led the chorus of appreciation, thanking PM Narendra Modi and Minister Jitendra Singh for prioritizing the region’s infrastructure woes.
In an interview, Parihar pointed out the acute road access issues in Doda, Ramban, and Kishtwar. ‘Villages still cut off from roads face daily hardships,’ he said. Out of the total ₹4,200 crore for J&K, Doda’s share marks a game-changer.
Projects are moving forward swiftly: constructions on select roads have commenced, pending forest nods for others. Batch 2 features 46 proposals, ensuring comprehensive coverage, with spillovers into Batch 3. The MLA committed to relentless pursuit of all-village connectivity via central aid.
Recall the historic start in Hirni village, Assar block, on December 20— a 15-km, ₹73 crore road flagged off by Parihar, ending decades of isolation since 1947.
PMGSY, a cornerstone of rural development, bridges remote hamlets to urban opportunities with standardized engineering and management. The government’s push for robust policies guarantees sustainable rural road networks, fostering trade, education, and healthcare access.
This funding not only paves physical paths but symbolizes hope for Doda’s future, potentially transforming its socio-economic landscape.
